Cure Brain Cancer Foundation (“we”, “us”, and “our”) respects your privacy and this policy outlines our ongoing obligations to you in respect of how we manage your personal information.
We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (“APPs”) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the “Privacy Act”). The APPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your personal information.

We may collect your personal information from a third party, e.g. event organiser, communications agency, or community fundraiser, when you have opted in with them, such as upon registration or completion of purchase with that third party. These third parties should have their own privacy policies for your review.
Under some circumstances, we may also collect your personal information indirectly from trusted sources such as members of your family, guardians or next of kin.
From time to time, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation may request certain sensitive information about your history with, or relationship to brain cancer, including medical information.
If you choose to provide Cure Brain Cancer Foundation with health and sensitive information — for example by mentioning you’re impacted by brain cancer when leaving a comment on social media, submitting a story through our websites, sending an email, or completing a survey — we may store and use that information for the purposes of responding to your message or helping us get you the information or services you requested.
Cure Brain Cancer Foundation will use your personal information to facilitate our relationship with you, such as (but not limited to), processing your donations and application to fundraise on our behalf, providing tax receipts, updating your details, to communicate with you on a regular basis, seeking your ongoing support, providing you with updates on our research and how your support is helping, or to comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
We never sell your personal information. In some instances, personal information is supplied to, or disclosed to, contractors who perform tasks on our behalf in order for us to perform our functions and activities. These are companies like database contractors, website partners, research agencies, telemarketing services, and mailing houses which send out our appeal letters. All contractors are required to sign a strict privacy, non-disclosure and security agreement.
Some of these contractors are based overseas, in New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States of America.
Cure Brain Cancer Foundation collects personal information from you in a variety of ways, including when you attend our events, use our websites, interact with us on social media platforms, third party websites, submit your story to us, phone us, write to us, email us or visit us in person.
You may share your story with us via email, social media, our website or through conversations with us – these stories generally comprise personal information. By submitting a story, photograph or video, you consent to its use and publication on our websites, social media platforms, and for related online and offline promotional uses. Cure Brain Cancer Foundation reserves the right to select those stories to be published. You should only submit a story, photograph or video where the personal information in the material is either related to you or related to a person who has provided you with permission to share it with us.
Cure Brain Cancer Foundation reserves the right to modify or edit stories, however, we will endeavour to contact you to seek final approval if significant changes are made to your original story. You may at any time contact us to remove or amend your story, and we will use our best efforts to do so within a reasonable time frame.
Cure Brain Cancer Foundation reserves the right to edit or delete submissions that, in our sole discretion, are deemed to be abusive, defamatory, obscene, illegal, in violation of copyright or trademark laws, or are otherwise unacceptable.
We may use your personal information, including your contact details, to provide you with information about Cure Brain Cancer Foundation’s offerings (including those of third parties) which we consider may be of interest to you.
You may opt out by unticking “I would like to receive updates from Cure Brain Cancer Foundation” on the donation form page. You can also opt out at any time by emailing info@curebraincancer.org.au if you no longer wish to receive information through a particular channel (such as by email, telephone, SMS, or post).

You may request access to the personal information which we hold about you and request its correction if you believe it to be incorrect. There are some circumstances where we can refuse to give access to information, as per APP 12.
